January–February–March
Cost: €€€€ / €€€ (Carnival period: €€€€€)
Pleasant spring-like weather (21–25°C during the day), ideal for excursions, hiking, beach time on the south coast, or even a walk on snowy Teide — perfect for an active holiday.
(Although the Teide cable car often does not operate in these months.)
Evening terrace dinners are cooler (17–20°C).
Around February–March, the world’s second largest carnival takes place in the capital — a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
April–May
Cost: €€ (Spring break: €€€)
Pleasant early summer weather (22–26°C during the day), no major crowds, perfect for beach time (ocean around 18°C), and ideal for both active and relaxed holidays.
This is the most cost-effective part of the year for traveling here.
June
Cost: €€€ (Last week: €€€€)
Less known, but a very good period for a holiday.
Pleasant summer weather (25–30°C during the day), perfect for both active and relaxed holidays.
Beaches are not crowded yet, and travel costs are still more moderate.
July–August
Cost: €€€€€
Peak season, perfect for family holidays, relaxed beach vacations, nightlife, late-night entertainment, and music festivals.
Even Siam Park (water park) can be visited at night during this period.
Because of calima events, periods of heat (35–45°C lasting a few days) can occur.
This can sometimes lead to closures outside urban areas.
Wildfires may occasionally occur in the mountains (though these do not pose a danger to the tourist areas or to your holiday), which can also cause temporary closures.
Beaches are busier.
Flights and car rentals are more expensive.
Quality accommodations are harder to secure.
Airport traffic increases.
For active holidays, these are the two weakest months.
September–November
Cost: €€€€ (Autumn break: €€€€€)
The joker card.
Beautiful weather (26–29°C during the day).
The ocean is at its warmest (around 24°C).
Beaches are not crowded.
Perfect for active holidays, relaxed holidays, and nightlife alike.
December
Cost: €€€ (Holiday period: €€€€€)
A special tropical holiday atmosphere with good weather.
A very good choice for beach time (on the south coast), active holidays, and nightlife.
Toward the end of the month, travel becomes more expensive.
Activity options are more limited.
Getting into good restaurants is harder.
But spending the holidays in the tropics is a unique feeling.
